Redeveloping the East End

The East End Redevelopment project is part of a larger municipal development plan to revitalize one of the poorest and most neglected sections of Bridgeport. The project is designed to redevelop three sites- Pacelli's trucking, Chrome Engineering, and Mt. Trashmore- all abandoned sites now being demolished. Plans for the sites include: single and multi-family housing as well as recreation areas. Partners on the project include: Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, Office of Planning and Economic Development, East End Community Council, Tufts, Fairfield University, Vita Nuova, Groundworks Bridgeport, Metcalf & Eddy, and PRE/view Landscape Architects. Went Field Park Restoration And Expansion

The Wentfield Park Restoration project is a major brownfields redevelopment in an urban center for the City of Bridgeport. The objective of the project was to acquire five parcels and expand a park from six to ten acres. Two former manufacturing facilities- an industrial printing facility and metal extrusion plan- were among the parcels purchased. The City of Bridgeport is one of the first in the nation to use a new and innovative redevelopment process designed to revitalize whole communities rather than mere parcels of land.
